COVAX-AMC

Your donation will support the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (COVAX-AMC) fund. COVAX-AMC supports the provision of effective, safe and affordable vaccines to 92 lower-income countries. It is funded by governments, philanthropies, private companies, and the public.

COVAX

Early in 2020 – when the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic – WHO, Gavi The Vaccine Alliance, and the Center for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI) created COVAX (COVID-19 Vaccine Access).

COVAX aims to ensure that vaccines – when developed – will be available to everyone as quickly as possible.

By pooling demand across countries, COVAX can negotiate prices, encourage production, and buy vaccines from global pharmaceutical companies. Its immediate target is to ensure that every country has enough vaccines to reach all its health workers and most vulnerable groups – about 20 percent of the world’s population.

The 92 AMC-eligible economies include all economies with Gross National Income (GNI) per capita under US$ 4,000 and other World Bank International Development Association (IDA)-eligible economies.

When countries apply for vaccines, COVAX provides technical assistance for planning and implementation of vaccine deployment as well as support to improve cold chains ie to keep vaccines at the right temperature until they reach a person’s arm.
